n.i centenary 1921-2021
We were delighted to be joined today by the First Minister, Mrs Foster, as part of our Northern Ireland Centenary celebrations. Our children have celebrated some of the great achievements that have their origins in Northern Ireland and reflected on the global impact of Northern Irish people in sport, music, film and other industries. We have looked at the geography of our country and at the many areas of outstanding natural beauty that are right here on our doorstep. The First Minister was very impressed by the knowledge and the talents displayed by our children during her visit
As part of their curriculum, our children learn to recognise their own potential and the potential in others around them. We have so much to be proud of in Northern Ireland and the future of our country will be in the hands of a generation of children who have participated in Shared Education programmes, developing an understanding of the wider Northern Ireland community while maintaining a pride in their own heritage.
Our celebration today has been generously supported by the Parent, Teacher and Friends Association, Tesco (Newtownards), The Ancre Somme Association, Reeds Rains (Newtownards) and the McCurrie family, together with the support of the wider community and we are so very grateful to everyone. After a challenging year, we are so pleased to have a wonderful occasion to celebrate and are delighted to have our children back safely attending school, learning alongside and from their friends, being part of our school community.
