Shared education
pdmu curriculum
Today (Tuesday 03 March 2020), children from P3 - P6 took part in a whole day of PDMU lessons. Children in P3 attended Kirkistown Primary School for their lessons while children from P4 - P6 travelled to St Patrick's for their sessions. Each year group had a focus on a particular aspect of the PDMU curriculum but all children had a 'mindfulness' session which focused on positive self image and being able to relax in a very busy world. We will add photos of the sessions below.

health & fitness programme
We are delighted to continue our Shared Education Programme with our friends from St Patrick's Primary School, Ballygalget. In Partnership with the IFA (Irish Football Association) and GAA (Gaelic Athletics Association), children have been visiting one another to take part in high energy team games which are supported with class based lessons on healthy eating, understanding our bodies and the importance of sleep. It's a joy to see children from each school community having such wonderful shared experiences.

Children from Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 classes have already met as part of their 'Ice-Breaker' activities for the current academic year, taking part in art and sporting activities respectively. Key Stage 2 children from both schools also united in December to perform as a choir on the Carol Ship from Portaferry to Strangford.
During the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year, a vast number of activities involving children and staff from both schools are planned. Children from both schools will meet to have an in-depth look at aspects of the Personal Development & Mutual Understanding (PDMU) curriculum. Staff from both schools will deliver this curriculum to mixed classes before meeting themselves to look at assessment, School Development Planning, play based learning and a number of policies and curriculum areas.
